The Publishers

Forests Forever Foundation: Founded in 1998, Forests Forever Foundation exists to inform and educate Californians about the threats to the state’s 17 million acres of diverse woodlands. A chief source of our drinking water, wildlife, and our spiritual refreshment, California’s magnificent forests help define the special character of the place where we live. Forests Forever Foundation fulfills a unique function in the forestry-reform community by carrying out a program of broad-based citizen education through direct-contact grassroots organizing.

The Center for American Places: The Center for American Places at Columbia College Chicago is a non-profit publisher founded in 1990. Its educational mission is to enhance the public's understanding of, and appreciation for, the natural and built environment. The Center is guided by the view that books provide, perhaps better than any other medium, the intellectual and affective foundation for comprehending—and caring for—the places where we live, work, and explore.
